Defect Analysis - Efficient Moulding Practice

OBJECTIVES

This practical-based module will enable you to apply logical and systematic method to deal with injection moulding faults. Apply technique for process optimization using correct machine parameter setting. Discussion is based on factors involved during processing i.e. plastic material, mould, machine and basic design. Participant will be exposed using simulation process and hand on practice on actual injection moulding machine.
·         Describe the cause of injection moulding defects and types of defects.
·         Understand principles of polymer properties and characteristics
·         Describe basic mould construction
·         Differentiate filling stage and packing stage
·         Apply techniques in mould rheology for polymer flow behaviors.
·         Determine holding phase sequencing and variation in parameter setting occurs during processing.
